Comentarios: Among the best-known African-American artists of the 20th century. White's early work, concerned with issues of race and suffering, was part of the social realist tradition. His later work was more inward in nature, while still dealing with the struggles of humanity. Teacher: Southside AC, Chicago, 1939-40; Geo.
