Comentarios: Husband of Mary (Wright) Gill and father of Minna Partridge Gill. He trained as a draftsman in the Office of the Supervising Architect, where he designed ornamental ironwork and tile, from 1877-84. In 1884, he became illustrator for the U.S. Geological Survey and the Bureau of Ethnology, and later was head of the Divison of Illustration. He did field work with W. H. Holmes, from whom he learned watercolor technique. Instructor: ASL of Wash., DC & Corcoran School Art.
