Comentarios: Was living in London in 1784 and shortly thereafter joined the La PÈrouse expedition as an artist. On reaching California with the expedition in 1786, DuchÈ de Vancy recorded the scene of La PÈrouse's reception at the Carmel Mission (now known only through early copies). The artist died in the Pacific in 1788.
