Work and Life
1959:Brazilian poet Ferreira GULLAR published the Manifesto neoconcreto in 1959, marking the emergence of the Neoconcrete movement and the end of collaboration between the Brazilian Concrete artists from Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.
1959:She find the Concrete movement too cold and insipid. She founded with Helio OITICICA, Lygia CLARK and Amilcar de CASTRO the Neoconcrete movement in an attempt to inject informality into their art.
1953:She helped start the Frente, or Front, movement in 1954 that later merged with the Concrete movement. Both movements relied heavily on the thinking of Brazilian art critic Mario PEDROSO, who felt art should be constructed and geometric.
