Comentarios: Realist artist and an important teacher at the NAD and ASL. His full name was Abraham Leon Kroll. Returned from study in France in 1910 and established a studio in NYC, where he became friendly with G. Bellows. By 1911, he was teaching at the NAD. He was painting in Gloucester by 1912 and painted throughout New England, from Rockport, MA, to Woodstock, NY. Kroll also made many trips to France, where he was friendly with Chagall and R. Delaunay. About 1917 he went to Santa Fe, NM, joining Robert Henri and Bellows. He also painted on Monhegan Island (ME). Teaching: NAD, 1911- ; ASL, 1924-25, 1929-; Maryland Inst.
