Comentarios: After studying in NYC, Kuehne traveled throughout Europe, looking at paintings by the old masters and supporting himself by painting portraits. He subsequently settled in NYC and became friends with Edward Hopper, William Glackens, Charles Prendergast and the collector Albert Barnes. Kuehne was primarily a landscape painter, although he did paint many still lifes. He continued to travel throughout his life, living in Spain from 1914-17, and later spending many summer in Rockport and Gloucester, MA. During the Depression he supported himself by making furniture, decorative screens and sculptures.
