Comentarios: Came to U.S. in 1849, settled first in Philadelphia. In 1850 followed the Gold Rush to San Francisco. Advertised as sculptor and carver 1856-59. Credited with starting the first chapter of Turnverein gymnasts in San Francisco. In 1860 or 1864 moved to Idaho territory, still in search of gold, and eventually settled in Boise. Specialized in horses as subject matter for his paintings and for his carvings. In 1869 he dedicated to Idaho pioneers a carved statue of George Washington on his horse.
