Comentarios: A pioneer in fine art photography. In 1867, he came to Brooklyn, NY, and worked for Edward Anthony (see entry) in the company"s photolithography business. In 1876, he was co-inventor of the platinum print process which was perfected after 1890 and gave rise to a wide school of proponents. Clements won an award for his artistic work as early as 1887 in NYC. In 1894, he won first prize (over Stieglitz) for a pictorialist shorescape photograph, "A Struggle for Existence," in an American Amateur Photographer exhibition in England.
