Comentarios: In 1932, the MMA purchased one of his oils, making him the youngest artist in its collection. But he went on to become best known for his watercolors of New England scenes. During WWII, he painted for the U.S. Air Force and also for Life. After the war his subject matter were urban scenes in France, Italy and Spain. Preferred media: oils, watercolors. Positions: mem., Fine Arts Commission, Nat. Collection Fine Arts; director & trustee, Tiffany Foundation; trustee, Shelburne Mus. Also active in WY; painted in Bermuda c.1950. Signature note: early paintings a fully signed, but from c.1950-on they are almost always signed simply as "Pleissner" in a cursive style, and are undated.
