Comentarios: An expatriate painter, in 1894 he went to study in Paris and remained in Europe until 1939, at the outbreak of WWII. While his early works show the influence of Dutch genre paintings, by 1905 he began painting large figure paintings, single figures and complex groups, in a naturalist light with Symbolist overtones. His life's work also includes watercolors, etchings, pen-and-ink drawings and woodcuts.
