Comentarios: French sculptor who combined Cubism and Expressionism in his work. Included here because he was in the U.S. during the war years, 1940-1945/46. Zadkine was an imporant teacher for American direct carvers of the 1950s, many of whom studied with him in Paris in the late 1940s and 1950s. Among these artists were Israel Levitan, Sidney Geist, Gabriel Kohn, Hugh Townley, and George Sugarman.
