Comentarios: A nationally recognized Canadian artist, he is best known as one of the "Canadian Seven" (until the group"s dissolution in 1932). He began as a Post-Impressionist landscape painter, and by the 1930s he was painting in a non-objective abstract style. He left his wife and children in Toronto, taught at Dartmouth College, and ended up in Santa Fe in 1938 where he became a member of the Transcendental Painting Group.
