Comentarios: Came to the U.S. in 1848. He worked for lithographers Peter S. Duval (see entry) and the Rosenthal brothers (see entries for Louis, Max, Morris, and Simon) in Philadelphia before returning in 1858 to Germany, where he set up a business in Stuttgart. He was later exiled for caricaturing the Bavarian king and returned to the U.S., where he opened a studio in NYC. His son and grandson, namesakes, also were artists. Also appears as Kraemer.
