biografía de Richard Felton OUTCAULT (1863-1928)

Lugar de nacimiento: Lancaster, OH

Direcciones: Flushing, NY

Profesión: Cartoonist, illustrator, painter

Estudios: McMicken Univ., Cincinnati.

Comentarios: In 1894, Joseph Pulitzer selected Outcault"s "The Yellow Kid" to be launched in the New York Sunday World as the first full-page colored comic ever published. In 1895, this was followed by Outcault"s "Hogan's Alley." When Outcault accepted a lucrative offer from Pulitzer"s rival, William Randolph Hearst, his cartoons appeared in Hearst"s New York Journal. A lawsuit ensued, and "Hogan's Alley" was won by the New York Sunday World while "The Yellow Kid" was retained by the New York Journal. In 1901, Outcault created "Pore Lil Mose," and in 1902, his greatest triumph, "Buster Brown" (the original inspiration for which was his son, Richard F., Jr). Both were produced in the New York Herald.
