Comentarios: In 1968, at age 60, she retired from being a waitress, cook, and seamstress and began to paint views of rural southern life, particularly nostaglic scenes of activities in farmyards and gardens. In 1976, she won the Governor"s Award in the Arts, and in the 1980s she published several books, A Winter Place; Circus; and From the Hills of Georgia: An Autobiography in Paintings.
