Art Stage Singapore: a new art fair is born

[03/01/2011]

Asia now has another art fair: Art Stage Singapore will be open from 12 to 16 January 2011. The Director and principal driver of this project is Lorenzo Rudolf, former Director of Art Basel (1991-2000), co-creator of the Shanghai art fair (ShContemporary) and founder of Art Basel Miami Beach. Rudolf clearly intends to turn Singapore into a major platform for the emerging art scenes in Asia.

The first Art Stage fair is being held in the spectacular and brand new architectural complex at Marina Bay Sands (inaugurated in June 2010, 3 skyscrapers of 55 floors). 90 galleries – some well-established and others emerging – will allow a broad panorama of Contemporary Asian art.

To coincide with the first Art Stage fair in Singapore, Artprice is publishing a Guide to the Contemporary Art Market in Asia. This free guide, produced by Artprice and edited in an English/Chinese version, will be distributed to collectors, visitors, guests and gallery-owners at Art Stage Singapore between 12 and 16 January 2011 and will be presented in the framework of a conference about the fair on 15 January.

The guide reviews the new hubs of the Asian art market that have emerged in, China, Japan, India and Indonesia and which are now unavoidable hot points of the global art market. You will be able to download a PDF version of this guide as of 11 January on Artmarketinsight.
