Austria’s international art fair
This coming autumn, the international art community will once again gather in Vienna: From 21 to 24 September 2017 established and emerging galleries from all over the world will present selected art works at Austria’s international art fair.
Already in the past, the team of viennacontemporary, spearheaded by artistic director Christina Steinbrecher-Pfandt and managing director Renger van den Heuvel, succeeded with the fair’s unique focus on East- and Central Europe, while further expanding its international repertoire. Known as a “fair for explorers”, viennacontemporary features the most intriguing selection of contemporary art the region has to offer, uniting Europe’s East and North with its West, and presenting new discoveries alongside established positions. Last year’s exhibition featured 112 galleries from 28 countries and attracted more than 28.000 local and international guests.
In cooperation with Austria’s leading museums and art institutions, a wide array of impressive special programs was created: Events including special showcases, talks, guided tours, and the excellent VIP Program attract the international art scene and provide for entertainment throughout the city. For a whole week, Austria’s capital turns into an international hot spot for contemporary art and culture.
For the third time, viennacontemporary is taking place at the Viennese Marx-Halle. With its high ceilings and 19th century-steel structure, the newly renovated industrial style building is a perfect venue for presenting contemporary art. It’s not without reason that viennacontemporary is said to be one of Europe’s most beautiful art fairs.
