Francisque Noailly, born in Marseille on March 11, 1855, died in Algiers January 31, 1942, was a French Orientalist painter. After studying at the École des Beaux-Arts in Marseille, he studied with William
Bouguereau and Tony Robert-Fleury at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. From 1875, he performed his military service in Algeria in the Zouaves regiment. He got married in Algiers and installed his workshop there in La Redoute. Director of the School of Industrial Arts in Algiers Mustapha, which had 500 students in 1905, Noailly excelled in painting scenes in Algeria. Vice-president with Alfred Chataud of the Algerian Orientalist Artists Society, he is also a member of the North African Art Union (UAAN), which gave him his first grand prize in 1935. According to Élisabeth Cazenave, in all his works " Noailly shows a rare hand safety and impeccable design."
