Rochette & Houdon mentioned on the parchemin holded by the putti on left & right. Painting on silk signed JC on the bottom & titled on the back. Granddaughter of sculptor Jean-Antoine Houdon - Daughter of Raoul Rochette, archaeologist. French painter and engraver who painted portraits as well as symbolistic, religious & allegorical pictures like "love" here with putti. Her first known works as here are effigies of members of her family, date from the 1840s. These paintings are all in Museums: husband Luigi Calamatta (1842, Rome, Accademia di San Luca), daughter Lina (1846, Paris, Carnavalet museum) son-in-law Maurice Dudevant, son of George Sand (1845, Nohant Castle). Her work was influenced by the French neo-classical painter, J.A.D. Ingres & J.H.Flandrin. But she had her own personal style through her strong use of colour reminiscent of
Italian Renaissance art & some paintings of the Spanish Baroque painter B.E. Murillo. Rare
