Danger studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris under Jean-Léon Gérôme (1824-1904) and Aimé Millet (1819-1891). In 1887, he was awarded the prestigious Prix de Rome. During his stay at the Villa Medici from 1888 to 1891, he painted landscapes of Rome and the surroundings of Siena like our very rare paintings. Danger is mainly known for his intimate genre scenes and landscapes inspired by the Italian countryside. Provenance : Private collection near Paris Never appeared in public auction. The best period of the Master, in the years following his Prix de Rome. A larger 1892 painting (157x217cm) but on a less seducing theme came over a hundred thousand euros three years ago. A very comparable oval painting hereafter showing lots of similarities with young fishermen is also available
