Provenance : Chemnitz (South-east Germany) private collection – Bordeaux collection. To be compared with "1964 Exciting women Lithograph 40,9x43,8cm Tate Gallery collection London". Jones was then teaching lithography at Croydon College of Art & did execute such works at the College due to facilities for photo-lithography. According to the Tate “The work (Exciting women) is one of a number of prints and paintings that Jones made, from the early sixties (as the one proposed here), incorporating images from magazines and mail-order catalogues... In a telephone conversation (21-12-1987) Jones commented: ‘In a pedagogical sense I wanted to demonstrate that there were no limits as to suitability of subject matter ... The "aesthetic" statement resided in the newspaper photograph.
