Purvis YOUNG - The Piano Player and Harmonica Player in Concert

Purvis Young has been recognized as one of the masters of this broadly defined nonacademic genre of 'outsider art'. His work possesses a singularly raw form of aesthetic power and through the decades he has developed an astounding  oeuvre, out of which we were able to acquire a range of true highlights, in early 1997, while we visited Miami.

One of them is the painting above, capturing the vibrant atmosphere, the heat of the night as a Piano Player and a Harmonica Player (portrait) play to the audience metaphorical symbolized as stars, which the musicians try to reach with and through their performance.
