"Old Bitch" figures the female cow in posture that could be interpreted as either playful and canine-like, or troublingly docile and submissive. Relying on traditional skills of representation, the work connotes both a serious and humorous affect. This bronze sculpture is edition 2 in a series of eight.

Nicholas Crombach (b.1989, Kingston, ON) graduated from OCAD University’s Sculpture and Installation program in 2012 winning the Faculty Award, the Samuel Lazar Kagan Award and the Hayden Davies Memorial Award. Working in a variety of cast media including bronze and resin, Crombach often explores the complex relationship of animals and humans. His thought provoking work is imbued with wry humour.
