This tragicomic depiction of a moose plummeting from a cliff merges playful, pop art inspired elements with deeply iconic Canadian imagery. The steel moose silhouette sculptures have been installed across Canada. Two are on the University of Toronto campus.
One of Canada’s leading contemporary artists, Charles Pachter is a painter, printmaker, sculptor, designer, historian, author and lecturer. His paintings hang in public and private collections around the world. Those of the Queen, moose, and maple leaf flag are pop icons of Canadian art. Pachter holds the prestigious Order of Canada, Chevalier of France’s Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, and a recipient of the Queen’s Jubilee medal. Retrospective exhibitions of his work have toured France, Germany, Japan, and India. Moose Plunge is a laser cut and powder coated steel sculpture mounted on a marble base with engraved signature.
