Rosemary Carruthers (b.1943)
Rosemary was born in 1943. She studied at both Canterbury and Bideford Art Colleges and taught Educational and Recreational Art. Rosemary Carruthers has lived in Norfolk since 1973.
Her works are in gouache, acrylic and oil. Her paintings are small in scale and the subject matter is taken from everyday life. Figures relaxing in domestic interiors, musicians, corners of tables, views through doors and windows as well as parts of gardens and landscapes.
Rosemary exhibited in the West Country in the early 1970s and has had work accepted by the Royal Academy and New English Art Club. She worked from life models in Leslie Marr’s studio and studied life painting with Dick Lee in the 1980s. Her work has been exhibited in London, York, Aldeburgh, Norfolk and Suffolk and several of her works have gone abroad.
