Salvatore Pupillo’s abstract graphics result from his inner need of expressing intimate reflection of the soul directly on the pictorial surface. On one hand, the artist’s research has collected surrealist-shaped pieces, especially during his earlier phases, while on the other hand he drew his informally moulded vital lymph. The thick and wealthy mixture of chromatic layers embraces figurative traces, progressively deceased in the incorporating presence of signs. On canvas, the existential experience is unknown with drama, but instead approaches a mature self-consciousness which gives space to chromatic and signs joy, moving through thickened brushstrokes that constantly interweave brand new unusual paths. Salvatore Pupillo has established a sentimental and physical relationship with painting, when molding matter and colors, with the desire of possession and willing to make images totalizing, while challenging the two-dimensional support.
