"Easter days 2024 is approaching and I remember that among my mother's drawing folders there were some beautiful drawings about the life of Jesus Christ. that a young Ángeles Benimeli drew in the last quarter of 1951 when she was studying at La Fábrica de la Moneda y Timbre in Madrid (Spain). They are pre-academic drawings made on sheets of paper with Indian ink, a complicated technique that does not allow errors, full of people, animals, plants and architectural structures that relate to each other through scenes related to the life of Jesus Christ. Almost all the drawings have a standard size of 12 x 16.5 cm and are within a frame with straight lines in the style of comics. We see that in the beginning, the young painter Benimeli signed separating her last name with a hyphen BENI-MELI. They are simple unframed sheets of paper that each constitute authentic original works of art and that give us information about the early artistic evolution of the painter Ángeles Benimeli.”
