Oil on canvas signed “Lyden” and dated “37” on bottom left. Provenance: Swedish private collection of Landskrona (south Sweden). The indistinct abbreviated signature “Lyden” is consistent with the dating “37” which ends with a writing fantasy. Lyden was a painter, draftsman, illustrator and experimented with graphics. His works include both abstract and representational works with some Cubist inflence which are the most looked after pieces. Lydén was teaching art in Turku schools from 1921 to 1949 and was an art critic from 1930 to 1943 and cartoonist. He belonged to the Pro Arte artist group in Turku, founded in the 1930s, where he served as the group's theoretical advisor.
